|

Hi,
Just wanted to share this...
Today is my EDD date 31st Jan and it has taken a lot to get here. This is my first child at 38 years old. 8ish years of disappointment and one MC (which broke my heart). I am sooooo impatient to meet my baby but back looking back I can wait another few days if I have to (but it won't stop me moaning )
Just wanted to say good luck to everyone else especially those new-to-be-mums who have had a hard time conceiving... (But my thoughts are firmly with those who are still trying and crying - I've been there)

Hi Amberdite - I can only begin to imagine how excited you are (your post nearly brought a tear to me eye, and I'm a twisted, bitter old cynic these days . . . !)
I can't wait to be at the stage you're at - from what you've said, it will finally make all the heartache worthwhile, and I take your story as reassurance that although it's difficult, it will happen someday for me and my husband, I just have to keep hoping.
I'll have my fingers crossed for you over the next few days - although hopefully pip won't keep you waiting too long! XXX |

Thanks Ziggy (have been worrying about you, glad your ok ish)!... I've just got back from midwife and looks like pip is not going anywhere soon and is happy to stay as long as possible...I've made an enviroment to warm and snug . I had a sweep (which wasn't that bad) to help labour along and also had inducement date booked for the 14th February. |

Am very excited for you Amberdite!!!
You sound very thoughtful in your original post, it is certainly exciting times for you and your husband, it seems that for all the struggles and heartache, there is one massive reward! Well worth waiting for!
Everytime I see your name on these boards I think "Oooooh..I wonder if she's had the baby?" Let us know as soon as you can if there are any developments! |

Amberdite, what's a "sweep"?
Just when I thought I knew everything about pregnancy . . . ! (Well, the theory, anyway!) |

Hi Ziggy,
I took this from another site...
"Membrane sweeping is done by your midwife or doctor. While internally examining you, he or she will simply "sweep" a finger around the neck of your womb (cervix). The aim is to separate the membranes around your baby from your cervix. This releases hormones called prostaglandins, which may kick-start your labour.
A membrane sweep increases the likelihood that labour will start within 48 hours. It has a higher chance of working if the neck of your womb is already softening and preparing for labour. It does not increase the risk of infection to either you or your baby.
A membrane sweep can be uncomfortable as the neck of the womb is often difficult to reach before labour begins and there may be some slight "spotting" of blood and irregular contractions immediately afterwards.
If your baby is overdue and induction of labour is being suggested, it is now recommended that a membrane sweep is offered beforehand."
I didn't find it too bad, much like having a smear teat really (although we would all like to avoid those if we could)
Anyway...I am off to hospital ... just had a call and they are now worried about my history an anaphylactic shock which I had from anaethetic. Think this call is nine months too late now! |

I am still here seems like they (as in medical team/baby) are gonna make me wait till me induction date. I have tried everything to get this labour on the road. I am drinking 4 cups of RLT a day, having curries followed by pineapple, walking non-stop (poor dog). I even managed to catch my hubby in the bedroom last night
Cannot do the nipple simulation tho - too sore- ouch!!!!!
Anyway much to my families alarm I am going shoppig now on my own - you never know..... |

Hang in there Amberdite!! It's hard, I know... I was 10 days late with my first, 5 days late with my second, and 3 days late with my third... I guess the babies just like the warm environment we create for them!
My hubby and I are off for the weekend to his parents for his mom's birthday... just as I'm approaching "O-Day"... it always feels so wierd to be doing the baby dance with his parents in the next room
I'll check in on Monday again, and hopefully you'll be announcing that your little one has arrived!! |

Sorry It's been a while since I posted, but little one has kept me and Hubby extraordinarily busy. (What did we expect?!) I'm also sorry to hear of your troubles--Like Others said, hang in there, it will come soon enough (but not soon enough at the same time) =}
Rest rest rest!!! Sleep as much as possible, trust me, you'll need it stored up. =}
Best of luck (walk and sex walk and sex walk and sex) Hopefully you'll meet him soon! |

No news... still here!!! Although I have had an interesting 48 hours of all kinds of things happening to my body! I am definately having false labour... all the period type pains, tightenings etc but spaced too far apart to be true labour.
Spoken to MW at hospital and she said it looked like it was on it's way! However I'm just getting more and more tearful as each day goes past. I cried five times yesterday over the silliest things. Had the in-laws over yesterday and my partner made a silly innocent comment (that I would usually laugh at) and I ended up crying my eyes out in front of them... I feel so stupid and embarressed!
Everything feels so surreal, like it is never going to happen. Think I am going to go and watch a comedy, hopefully lots of belly laughs may do the trick....
Hope everyone else is ok, and lots of 'baby dancing' going on |
