I, unfortunately, have BDD. I was diagnosed with OCD and BDD late last year. I'm on pills right now to treat them. I don't know if they're working all that well, but I have this book called "Brain Lock" that's to help people with OCD, and the little bit I've read has helped me change my outlook on things. I'm also in a Christian support group on Yahoo called SerenityBay for OCD and OC spectrum disorders, which is what BDD is. I'd be happy to give anyone the link if you'd like to try joining. It's always good to have support. Smile I also see a counselor and talking to her and my mother has helped me a great deal. It's still a battle, but now I know more what triggers my BDD symptoms and what I can avoid. I mean, I still can't look at myself in the mirror really. I have to cover up one half of my face, but I'm hoping that will get better with time. Anyways, hope this helps someone, if only to know that you aren't alone. And I believe people can recover from this.

I'd be interested in a Christian support group around these issues. Thanks.

This is definaly something I've dealt with , I think on a lower level, but it does cause quite a bit of dispair. A classmate (a stupid boy)told me I was ugly in grade 7 or 8 and now I'm 23 and it still causes me to put makeup on as soon as I get out of bed. I like this happy face the best anyway Shocked it makes me laugh. Thanks for writing this it helps me to define alot of mt problems and hopefully I can start to make a change. Attitude is everything. Thanks again.

Its funny how things unfold, for the past 5 years i have experienced 90% of all the symptoms if u call it mentioned in this article, from the unacceptance of ones appearance, to the lack of social involvment, and fear of rejection and insult from others about ones self in terms of looks and physical appearance. I thought i was seriously disturbed because of the way i acted and in the worst circumstances...i would cry in the corner (in private) becaus e of the way i looked. TODAY i read this article...and just F***** realised i have a disorder...I dont think people can notice i have this problem as i hide it very well, but it has caused me great depression in doign so. I dont think im below that danger line...but still how can i correct this....i dont want to be negative anymore..is there anybody who can reccomend how to treat this thing properly... Confused ....Im probably gonna wake up tommorow and kick myself for thinking i might have this disorder and for posting this text..

i just went on your website and it hasnt taken me long to realise that i have this disorder
im 18 years old, and recently ive been going through all the symptoms mentioned, but i thoguht i was getting depression, i didn't even know this disorder exsisted....im really confused though about who i should turn to as i can honestly say i dont feel that i can talk to any one about it, not even my parents
should i go see a doctor? i dont know if you can go see a doctor about these kinds of disorders, as ive never experienced this before....will the doctor be able to refer me to a councillor or some one? i just want someone who can talk to me and help me over come this problem
