the pill & pregnacy

Postby kandi_floss69 on Sat Sep 24, 2005 12:40 pm

:D Hey all,

Just a question that I've been wondering for awhile, hopefully someone will be able to help me out, while on the birth control pill is it alright for the guy to cum inside you? or should he withdraw?

Also do you have to take the pill at like literally exactly the same time each day? and for anyone on the pill could you please share with me some of the side-effects you've experienced?

Thankz

I've been on the pill for the past 2 years. If you don't want to get any sexually transmitted diseases, or become pregnant, I'd tell you to wear a condom. Thing is, the pill is not 100% effective. As a matter of fact, I'm waiting 2 weeks --until I'm supposed to get my period the next time-- to see if I'm pregnant. I have symptoms... but you can't tell until you've actually missed a period. The reason the package tells you to take it at the same time every day is so you get into a routine, and don't forget to take it. However, if you take your pills 2 at a time religiously, I'd say it would have an undesired effect. On the pill a lot of people gain weight, and their breasts get larger.... Neither of those things happened to me, though. The only thing I noticed is that my periods were heavier.

Hope that helped..

hello! iv been on the pill for nearly 3 years, iv had a pretty good experience with it, boobs went up a whole size and did gradually gain weight ( iv lost it since i changed the pilll i was on ) but began to have really bad mood swings this year so iv just started taking a new one. My advice would be tell the doctor what exactly your looking for as pills vary in side effects so some will keep your skin clear but may make your hormones wild while others will not keep skin clear but may be less harsh on the hormones! try a few to see what works! and I would say use protection as the pill wont protect against stds etc. You should try and take it at the same time each day as even if you leave it a few hours your next period could be a day later than usual. good luck!

As the others have said it's best to take your pill at the same time of day although with the combined you can be up to 12hours late with a dose and POP up to 3hours late before (theoretically) you need to use another contraceptive (although this also depends upon where abouts in the pack you've been late - the earlier on in the pack the more likely you could get pregnant).
Provided you do take it correctly (and this is remembering that certain other medications etc... can interfere with the pill, i.e anti-boitics, St. Johns wort , vomiting withing 2hours of taking it etc... all explained by your doctor and in the leaflet in the box) then there's no need for a man to withdraw (this doesn't work as a contraceptive anyway).

Various side effects can happen, I wasn't suited to the combined pill (nausea/headaches) but it's easy enough (unless you're me lol)to find a contraceptive to suit you
