Some people may not like rimming because it involves using an orifice where waste normally is excreted, which is a valid opinion.
However, some of the statements made on bacteria leave much to be desired.
The human body contains 10 bacteria cells for each human cell. The bacteria normally found in the human body are rendered harmless or beneficial by the protective effects of the immune system.
The anus is connected to the rectum, the rectum is connected to the large intestine, the large intestines is connected to the the small intestine, and the small intestine is connected to the stomach. The acidity of the stomach (ranging from pH 1 to 4) is fatal to many microorgasms.
It does not matter whether you participate in rimming or not, because the bacteria in your anus can easily reach further into your body (i.e. to the stomach) through the intestines.
If there is a pathogenic bacteria in your anus, you would be very sick. Do you normally engage in sex when you are extremely sick? I certainly hope not. It would be irresponsible for you or your partner to do so.
There are some risks to rimming, but they may be managed through good hygiene and eating properly prepared food.
E. coli is abundant in all human excrement. Most are harmless. A few types are pathogenic. E. coli is only fatal if the infected person is very young or old. If the pathogenic E. coli is present in the anus, that person would have contracted it by eating contaminated food and be sick. Would you really engage in sex with a sick person? I hope not.
The more likely risk from rimming is a urinary tract infection. When the person performing the rimming, performs fellatio or cunnilingus afterwards, it is possible for E. coli to be transmitted from the anus to the urinary tract.
Hepatitis A traces in excrement only apply if the infected person has eaten contaminated food.
Hepatitis C is rare but possible if the person has trace amounts of infected blood through the person's anus or excrement.
HIV/AIDS is not easily transmitted through rimming, but experts assert that it is a theoretical risk.
Other STDs are more likely to be contracted through conventional unprotected sex than through rimming.
To guard against the spread of diseases, sex should be performed with a condom, and a new condom should be used when switching between
Anal intercourse, and vaginal intercourse or fellatio.
As stated earlier, there are some risks to rimming and they may be managed through good hygiene and eating properly prepared food.
In addition, the evacuation of excrement by cleansing with two or three warm douches may be an effective means of removing E. coli from the anus, but it will still be risky if the person is sick.
