Hi, I am a 18 year old woman and I had inverted nipples, my boyfriend is freaked out by them. He's been with alot of women and he has never seen nipples like mine before. I feel very ugly and ashamed. Can someone tell me if this is how most people feel about inverted nipples "freaked out?"

Hi to all fellow "INs"
I have also tried the nipplettes and had same problem with looking strange, falling off etc. At 45, I had thought about surgery for a long time, but I have had my kids etc and gave up trying to breast feed!

SO, I recently went ahead and had the surgery overcoming my embarrassment too at both doctors and hospital. It was FINE - a little painful but after a couple of days I felt OK. NO scars. It has worked in part - certainly LOADS better, though doubt I will still ever go topless!!!
The procedure may be like having piercing as it involves cutting the duct behind but I WAS told that you could not breast feed after - hence my comment above. Hope this helps.

Its great to hear from someone who has had surgery! i am also planning to have this when i pluck up the courage.
How do you mean 'it worked in part'? Are you not entirely happy with it? And is it def permanent?
Thanks!

Hi

I also have inverted nipples and can identify with most of the comments women have made in this forum!!! I am deeply embarrassed about my inverted nipples but to be honest it hasn't bothered any of my long term boyfriends!!!

I have considered nipple surgery, but my partner thinks is a waste of money , he likes my breasts as they are and is happy that my nipples do pop out when sucked!!! Perhaps your boyfriend can try this!!

I know having inverted nipples can be very embarrassing, I cant tell you not to feel bad cos I am 26 and felt bad about them my hole life!!! However I can tell you that if a guy really likes you he wont really mind!!! The best thing to do is to openly talk about the problem, most times you'll find guys are pretty sympathetic!! about the whole thing!!!

Glad to know I'm not alone anyway!!! I had a good laugh reading all the comments as I identify my self with most of them!! Specially the one about refusing to have sex without a bra!!! (not with my partner for the record!)

I am currently looking into piercing but I am a bit sceptical, not to mention having to get my boobs out for the piercer!!! I couldn't bear it if he somehow thought I was abnormal and has never seen inverted nipples before!!!

Has anyone one in London had their nipples pierced if so! Can you let me know who's done them so I can go there to? Very Happy

if your boyfriend is "freaked out" by them, you should probably get a different boyfriend! i don't mean that in an "everyone should be happy with what god gave them" way - i'm not religious or anything, i just think it's really not that big a deal, especially to someone who cares about you. and you should never be in a relationship where the person you're with makes you feel like a freak.
it's a common problem, and plenty of people don't even consider it a problem. surgery and some of the various techniques for protracting inverted nipples have been shown to increase the likelihood of complications in breast-feeding. i know that's not a priority to a lot of people, but your perspective may change as you get older, so personally i'd rather put up with 1 person who i love growing to like my nipples as part of who i am and keep my options open than risk damaging my ability to look after my future children in whichever way i might choose.
i would consider methods of protracting inverted nipples, but only after a lot of research into the possible side effects, and only for my own reasons, not just to please someone else. changing your image rarely solves problems with self-image! it's usually more to do with self-esteem.
good luck everyone :) xxx

I wish I had come across this forum last night.
I literally only ordered the Niplette's last night after doing a bit of reading. I know they dont work for everyone but figured I would give them a go.

I just didn't know that piercing was an option. I might have seriously considered that instead. But I will try the niplette's first and see what happens, considering I have already paid for them.

I have never had a partner who saw them as an issue, some saw it as a challenge or a bit of fun trying to tease them out.
But I thought I would attempt to correct mine before starting a new relationship. I am currently single.

I definately understand so many of the comments on here. I find my innies to be unattractive and always have. I am not looking to have kids just yet, but would like to think I can correct the problem before I do have children.

THanks for all the tips on here. It's been an interesting bit of reading.
cheers

dont worry i just got my mother.( too embarrased to enter boots and search for it) to buy the nipplet avent. iv started using it, and like on the other comments it does work, however i really think for it to be fully effective, it needs to be used for many many months. and yes
it can be painfull depending of how much suction you use, but it does say this is a normal effect of it, and you should just be more gentle and slowly i believe you will be able to use more suction to it.
so dont be disheartened about it YET, until you try it! hopefully it will work.but do understand its not going to change in 3 weeks.i think its going to take longer depending how inverted your nipples are.
fingers crossed! for both of us! Very Happy

hi im really pleased i found this forum and knowing its more common than i thought. im 21 and have inverted nipples i have tried the nipplets also and i would recomment people to use a lot of moisturiser on them before u put the on it makes the sucking less uncomfortable tho its not really that pain full any, they stay on batter and also your nipples crack and bleed when they dri, i also found that my nipples weep and after seconds go back in, at night they fall off and during the day u cant hide them and putting on a bra knocks them off......huff. surgery seems pointless expensive and results dissapointing so im seriously thinking about gettingboth mine pierced. any 1 got other sugestions. i am really embarresed about them and although my breasts are a nice size and shape my nipples compleatly ruin the way they look and i dont feel sexy at all.

Embarassed hi all, i have just read all of your comments on the embarassing condition. I have always had them and noticed my breasts were different from everybody elses at the age of 10, my mum also told me they were fine, fine for her to say. i spent most of my school years avoiding P.E. i think i had period pains every week. lol.
i seen an ad in a mag for the avent nippletes and gave them a go. they are not the best invention, they do make your nipples weep and some times crack and bleed OUCH!!!, its impossible to wear them for the period required unless you stay home all day and can some how keep them on all night. although my nipples arent totaly corrected they do pop out wen i take my bra off n wen stimulated. ive been with my partner for 11 years and has never noticed lol. men eh. i would reccomend to try them but i would like to try the silicone needle procedure, £500. dont know if anyone has heared of that option. In a way it has stopped me from fullfilling what ive always wanted to do, im a very attractive girl and have fantastic 38d breasts and always get offered to go into glamour modeling. would they want me with nipples that only pop out now and again.

Hi there, I like rest of you, had inverted nipples and have been embarrest about them all my life, I tried the nipplet and it just didnt work, they would come out, but as soon as I took it of, they would go back in, the nipplet would fall of during the night and my nipples would seep from the suction, and the thought of waring it during the day was not an option.
I've had many partners and would hide them from them, however one partner I had knew about them and was perfectly fine with them.
I was so sick od being embarrest about them and uncomfortable with myself , that I looked up a local cosmetic surgeon and plucked up the courage to go and see them, believe me, this was really hard, but I did.
She was fine, had done the procedure many times before and went though it with me. I like many had one more inverted than the other and I would like to mention, that they did not pop out from suction or coaxing. So we book the surgery, I went in as an out patient, under a local I arrived at 11am, surgery was at 1.30 and it look 1 1/2 hours, I was back home at 5pm, she made 4 cuts around the nipple and pulled it out and put stitches behind the nipple to keep it out, this was done on both, I had to wear a piece of foam with a hole for the nipple and have them covered for about a week. I was on antibiotics and panadine Forte, the pain was minimal, ok to put up with. I went baak after a week and had a few stitches removed and all was good. I had doctors and nurses looking at me, and as embarrest as I was, I just said to myself get over it, I have always wanted it done.
I had surgury on the 30 April, I love my nipples and they look great, I have sensation in both and they go hard when I am cold etc, my partner loves them. there is a tiny scare on one of them, but this is hardly noticable. I would recommend surgury, dont be scared, believe me, If any one was it was me.
I live in Australia, so the costs for surgury would be different here, however this is what I paid. $170 for the initial consultantion. $700 for the surgury on both nipples, $600 for the local anaesetic and $200 for the hospital fee. Hope this helps with any question, feel free to ask anything as I am happy to help out, I know what you are all going through and how you feel.
