yes. the tests are designed to be done no earlier than the first day your period is due, if the result is faint, or if your unsure, repeat after three days. unles it was one of those new tests designed to be done up to four days before your due. if your period is now late i suggest you do another test.
however i did know a girl a few years back who had all the signs of pregnancy, swollen belly, being sick,no period, but no positive result on the pregnancy test, she was all due to go and have a scan, the dr's thought she was about 12 weeks, when she was rushed into hospital with a burst appendix! and that is what it turned out to be!
