KT Tunstall's backpacking break

KT Tunstall is taking a break from music to go backpacking.

The 'Suddenly I See' singer says she wants to go travelling later this year as she never had the opportunity in her youth.

The Scottish star told MTV: "I'll be touring South America in October, and after that, I'll take some time off to travel.

"I never did the backpacking thing when I was younger, so I'm just going to disappear, travel for a few months and write some music. I can't wait to write the next record, though, to be honest. I won't be in the studio until next year."

KT also revealed she has so far written just one track for her next album - and it is inspired by a children's fairy tale.

She explained: "It's called 'The Hidden Heart' and it's basically about a tree that really doesn't like people. It was inspired by this brilliant kids' book that my goddaughter's got called 'The Giving Tree'. "

'The Giving Tree' was written in 1964 by Shel Silverstein and centres on a friendship between a boy and a tree, with the tree providing the boy with everything he wants.
