Kings of Leon's US sadness

2 months ago 26th Sep 13:15

Kings of Leon are "heartbroken" at their lack of American success.

Despite their massive popularity in Europe, the 'Sex On Fire' hitmakers have so far failed to match it in their homeland - failing to sell even half of the 1.5 million albums their back catalogue has sold in the UK.

Frontman Caleb Followill said: "I'm sick of being big everywhere else. For America to kind of turn its back on us is heartbreaking."

However, the singer admitted the group are expecting their latest album 'Only By The Night' to help change their fortunes in the US after spending more time on the quality of the record.

He added: "We had the time, so we wanted to go further with effects and stuff on this one. We all have full-on pedal boards now."

Caleb also revealed he has strived to make his lyrics clearer on their new album, after previously trying to disguise the words so as not to upset his mother.

He explained to Rolling Stone magazine: "I could always sing, but I didn't want my mom to understand the lyrics. This was the first album where I felt the songs were too pretty to f**k them up."
