McFly The Interview

Oh the McFly boys! Who would have thought that in a matter of only two years the cheeky foursome, named after some 80s film, who blasted into the charts with well-styled haircuts, big mouths and infectious pop ditties would outlive Busted, bring out, not only a second album, but a good one as well and become, dare I say, the only credible pop band left in Britain! Honestly, I always knew they would!

Here at Femalefirst we love the McFly boys and recently caught up with the unusually polite Dougie to chat about hitting the silver screen, Lindsay Lohan, being a gay pinup and his favourite colour, obviously!

Hey Dougie, it's been a year since we spoke last, how the hell are you?
Dougie: We are all really good but very tired.

I know, you have been very busy boys with TV appearances, touring, a movie, a DVD and a new album..
Dougie: Yeah it's been like 10 years worth of things crammed into one year, but its cool.

So are you still enjoying it all?
Dougie: Yeah, we need a holiday though. We're getting really tired and pale, but we've got a month off soon.

Lovely, where are you going?
Dougie: Danny and me are going on a romantic cruise. Tom and Harry are going to Egypt searching for things in the tombs and stuff because Harry has relations to Tutencarmum or something.

Um okay, now that you are all grown-up with a more mature second album, are you sick of being asked questions like ‘what is your favourite colour?'
Dougie: Yeah I get really sick of that. No offence to them or anything, but when your recording a new album, or have spent time putting so much effort into it, you want to be asked questions about the recording and the writing and what the lyrics mean. So when they come out with questions like that, its like, they obviously don't really care. And it's a shame that kids aren't into that part of music anymore because Smash Hits and magazines like that used to be a lot more grown-up, didn't it. When the first issue came out, it had Gary Newman on the cover and it was a lot cooler. Its just a sad thing what's going on today with popular music like X- Factor and stuff like that. It's all about money and marketing, there's nothing that's real anymore.
