Nicola Roberts claims a relationship is not genuine if a woman proposes to a man.
The Girls Aloud singer - who has been dating boyfriend Carl Davies for almost a year -would never dream of getting down on one knee and popping the question to her beau as she is an old-fashioned type of girl.
Nicola said: "It's the boy's job. It's not a proper relationship if the boy doesn't propose."
However, the 22-year-old star has hinted she would be willing to pay for her engagement ring.
Nicola, who has been dogged by rumours of her blazing rows with Carl, said: "We haven't started looking yet, but I like the idea of an antique ring. I'm so lucky that I can afford to pick a ring I really want, so I'd rather not have a ring from a store where there are 10 other rings exactly the same."
The flame-haired star also revealed she is considering cosmetic surgery on her nose but is worried she may regret it.
She added to More magazine: "I'd like to get my nose done. I have thought about it but I'm one of those people who'd probably regret it so I'm better off leaving it as it is."
