Simon Pegg's Trek tears

Simon Pegg cried when he saw clips of the new 'Star Trek' movie.

The 'Shaun of the Dead' star plays Scotty in the forthcoming science fiction movie, and director J.J. Abrams revealed his emotional response after viewing an excerpt on his cell phone.

He said: "I showed Simon Pegg footage when we were at Comic-Con. I showed him this little trailer thing and it was my favourite thing ever.

"He literally started weeping. It was ridiculous. He was sitting there, I mean he must have been really drunk because he was looking at my iPhone crying."

The director also confirmed 'Star Trek' will be no longer than two hours because of his hatred of long films.

He added to MTV news: "I'm sick of these two hours and forty-five minute movies. Seriously, it's like I don't have enough time to stay two hours and forty-five minutes. I'm exhausted just saying that twice. I can't stand it."

'Star Trek' is scheduled for release next summer.
