Oj Simpson Witness In Tears.... The sports memorabilia dealer who claims he was the victim of an armed heist organised by O.J. Simpson broke down in tears in court on Monday (15Sep08) as he recalled the fallen sports star and actor calling his late mother to wish her a happy birthday.
Bruce Fromong insisted he and Simpson were once close friends, but that ended when the star and five associates burst into his Las Vegas hotel room last year (Sep07) demanding the return of what they claimed was stolen property.
Former American footballer Simpson maintains Fromong was selling off sports memorabilia items and private family photographs that rightly belonged to him.
The memorabilia dealer opened the witness accounts in the kidnapping and armed robbery trial on Monday at the Clark County Court in Nevada by tearing up over memories of his past friendship with the defendant.
Fromong claimed Simpson had called his mother on her birthday and phoned the dealer to offer his sympathy after she died.
The sobbing witness later left the stand for medical attention after he clutched his chest during cross-examination. Fromong has suffered four heart attacks in the past and court officials weren't taking any chances.
It is not known if his cross-examination will continue on Tuesday (16Sep08).
