The Strokes' break fear

4 months ago 11th Jul 13:15

The Strokes fear people will think they have split if they don't release a new album soon.

The American rockers haven't released an album in almost three years and guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. says they recognise a pressing need to get back to the studio.

He said: "If we don't make a Strokes record before that, people will think that's the end of us.

"Nothing's set, but we're definitely figuring out something to do for 2009."

Albert - who released a solo album, 'Como Te Llama', earlier this week - also admitted he was worried the lyrics to one of his new songs would be misunderstood.

He explained: "'Feed Me Jack' became a love song to a man. I don't want to just write love songs about girls I'm sexually attracted to.

"But after a couple of plays, I thought, 'Oh. I wonder if people think I mean the other Strokes?"
