A new article by Shoes Glorious Shoes has revealed how women can walk in their heels and be comfortable at the same time.
Maria Darling MD of Shoes Glorious Shoes has come up with these handy hints for any situation that you may face in your high heels:
The crux of the matter is the posture: stand up straight. It sounds so simple but just look in the mirror - ideally you should have your ear over the tip of your shoulder, over your hip, over your knee, over your ankle; all in a straight line.
Tuck in your chin but lift your head by stretching the back of your neck; Lift your chest but don't lean back, and relax your shoulders. Tuck your tail in and gently hold your tummy in without lifting your ribs.
Now lock your knees back and stand tall. Many women at this point have all their weight forward on the balls of the feet and the toes which will make your killer heels kill you much quicker.
To avoid the toe-crush, lift ONLY your big toes up inside your shoes. Keep your other toes and the balls of your feet down. The effect of this will be to rock you back to vertical. Put your big toes back down but don't rock forwards. The weight should now be distributed evenly between the balls of your feet and your heels.
And there you have perfect posture. Practice it and internalise what it feels like whilst standing still.
Now that you have your weight distributed evenly between the fronts and backs of your feet you can walk totally normally; carrying your weight naturally from heel to toe with each step; and so avoiding the ‘bum-out-knees-bent’ look where your heel and sole hit the ground at the same time.
