If you're a fan of sexy high-heels, then the news that they cost £29 million a year in foot operations to repair the damage, may come as something of a shock.
Thousands of women across the country need expensive corrective surgery, as they can't walk properly after years of tottering on stiletto or wedge heels.
WAGs are apparently the worst offenders, who more often than not wear heels all week long, and Victoria Beckham is famous for her bunion feet after years of wearing dangerously high-heels.
Bunion operations can cost up to £4,000 and toe straightening costs up to £1,200 a time. With surgery becoming more and more common, it can cost up to £10.5 million per year.
The study was conducted by NHS consultant podiatrist Emma Supple and funded by shoe firm, MBT.
She said: "While we love our high heels, wearing them for prolonged periods is bad news for our health and wallets.
"We need to mix and match our choice of footwear to allow our bodies time to recover."
