By Return of the Jedi the Death Star has been rebuilt and a dying Yoda tells Luke Vader's true identity and that he has a twin sister.
While Han Solo and co try to destroy a shield in Endor, that will allow an attack on the Death Star, Luke is trying to bring Vader back from the dark side.
The Emperor and Vader try to turn Luke to the dark side. But in an act of self sacrifice, as Luke faces death at the hands of the Emperor, Vader turns on him in a bid to save Luke.
He is reunited with Han Solo and Leia.
