While the male superheroes have been having all the fun on the big screen this summer with the likes of Batman, The Hulk and Ironman all enjoying major success.
The male superheroes are further under the spotlight this week with the release of Smallville season 7 so here at FemaleFirst we thought it was a bout time that we took a good look at the ladies.
A DC Comic character Wonder Woman is the ultimate superheroine and of course major sex symbol that has found success in comic form, as a television comic and possibly the big screen.
Her powers include super-strength, hand-to-hand combat ability, and sometimes (during the 1980s and 1990s) flight. She also makes use of her Lasso of Truth (which forces those bound by it to tell the truth), a pair of bullet-deflecting bracelets, and an invisible plane.
She gained mainstream fame between 1975-1979 with the live action television series that launched Lynda Carter to fame.
A big screen version of the animated cartoon looked all set in 2001 when Joel Silver approached Todd Alcott to write the screenplay and Mariah Carey, Sandra Bullock, Rachel Bilson, and Catherine Zeta-Jones have all been linked with the project.
Real name Susan Storm Richards was a character created by Stan Lee as the superhero team The Fantastic Four.
