In today's Daily Rap we see B.I.G hit the big screen, Lil Wayne and Kanye West looking set to clean up at the American Music Awards, DJ AM going back to work and Janet Jackson can't make her mind up about her tour.
After close to four years in the making, the story of the slain rapper Christopher Wallace, AKA Biggie will be released on January 16th.
The movie shows just how things were for Biggie as he shot to stardom in the mid nineties. Playing the role of Biggie is Brooklyn rapper Jamal Woodard also known as Gravy. Selecting the actor to play Wallace was in fact one of the hardest parts of the entire movie process.
Speaking exclusively to Voletta Wallace, the rappers mother who is played in the movie by Angela Bassett, she explained that the actor who was to play her son at a young age was an easy fete. “We found the actor to play the young Christopher in Chicago and I knew immediately he was the child who had to play my son. He was so like him.”
The movie has had help from various people who played an important role in the life of the rapper including Faith Evans, Biggies estranged wife, Sean Combs his friend and label boss and also Lil Cease who was part of the Junior M.A.F.I.A crew which Biggie founded.
The movie is being released through Fox Searchlight.
Hardly surprising that two of the most talked about rappers in Hip-Hop should lead the nominations for the impending AMA’s which will be aired on November 23rd.
Lil Wayne is nominated for three awards and Kanye West for two. Heading up the nominations for the females is the divine Alicia Keys with four nods including Artist of the Year where she competes with Lil Wayne.

DJ AM will be back at work tonight as he DJs alongside Jay Z at the opening of The Palladium in Hollywood after the legendary theater has gone through a multi million dollar overhaul funded primarily by Live Nation.
This will be the first time the DJ has performed since being involved in the tragic plane crash which killed four people last month.
Both he and Travis Barker were the only survivors on the Lear jet which burst into flames during take off in South Carolina. Both suffered considerable burns, of which barker is still in an LA hospital being treated.
It is highly possible that DJ AM who has Djed his fair share of parties in Hollywood during his tenure as a DJ will be accompanying Jay Z on various dates for his up and coming tour.
It came as no surprise that Janet Jackson’s Rock Witchu Tour has had the plug pulled on it. After being rushed to hospital in Canada just over two weeks ago Janet had to cancel and postpone pretty much every show scheduled.
But in a strange twist of events yesterday and after various websites and blogs posted stories about the canceled tour, the 42 year old Ms Jackson made a statement implying that the show will in actuality be going on.
Her first show after all the setbacks will be in DC tonight. “I know you guys have been hearing a lotta, lotta rumors… [that] the tour’s been canceled. None of that’s true. I’m actually rolling into DC right now to do my first show coming back. I feel a lot better and I want to thank all of you. I really do appreciate the love and the support. And once again, don’t believe anything that you hear and you read. The tour is still on,” the singer explained.
The cause of Ms Jacksons change in schedule is vertigo is the suspected illness caused by migraine and not the fact that she is pregnant as reported by various media outlets.
