Britain's Prince Charles' estate employed a convicted thief as a window cleaner.
Matthew Bell - who was sentenced to four months at Swansea Prison for breaking into a holiday home in 2003 - set up his own window cleaning business, called Inside Out, on his release from prison, and claims he is now changed man.
Matthew, 35, from Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, gained customers by posting leaflets through doors in Carmarthenshire, near Charles' Llwynywermod holiday cottage.
He claims he was cleaning windows when he had a call from the prince's Deputy Master of the Household Andrew Farquharson.
Mr Farquharson said he had contacted me after seeing one of my advertising leaflets.
No police checks were carried out on him and he began work at the estate two days later, receiving £1,200 for two days work.
Matthew - who claims he had the run of the place and even spent time inside Charles and Camilla's bedroom - says he was surprised no checks were done on his past.
He said: "I usually tell my clients that I have a conviction for burglary - but I decided to keep quiet about it this time. I went to Charles and Camilla's estate and was shown around.
