Prince Charles' troop tribute

3 months ago 01st Sep 14:00

Britain's Prince Charles has paid tribute to the Armed Forces, insisting Britain's troops are "the best in the world".

The prince - who admits he found it difficult when his 23-year-old son Prince Harry was deployed to Afghanistan to serve with the Blues and Royals regiment late last year - voiced his support for The Millies awards, honours awarded by Britain's The Sun newspaper to brave military stars.

Charles, 59, said: "When my youngest son went to Afghanistan, I understood only too well what it was like for those many families with loved ones serving abroad in often difficult and highly dangerous environments.

"I firmly believe that we have the best Armed Forces in the world. I hope The Sun Military Awards will allow us all to celebrate the excellence and extraordinary qualities of the men and women who so diligently and enthusiastically serve our country.

I am delighted and proud to lend my support.
