Royal News Jordan's Queen Rania awarded Distinguished Achievement Medal

16-03-2006 16:36

Jordan's Queen Rania was presented with the Distinguished Achievement Medal on Wednesday.

The Arab Federation for Veterans and Retired Servicemen honoured the beautiful queen for her efforts to support families of retired soldiers and those who died in war.

Expressing her pride in the association's work, the queen said retirement is a transition from one phase of life to another and does not mean that one should stop being productive.

She also recognised the efforts of the widows of three servicemen, who raised their families' standard of living by educating and supporting them.

And Rania listened intently as Retired Major General Ahmad Basha Amian gave a presentation on the achievements of the association since it began in 1974.

Meanwhile, the queen met with the Administrative Committee of the Women's Veteran Club, which was founded in 2005 and has 3,000 members from different sectors of society such as doctors, engineers, teachers and pharmacists.

Committee members discussed their objectives and plans to improve the club and the queen said she would help them achieve their goals in training and consultancy in various fields.
