Chelsea failed to guarantee qualification from the group with a 1-1 draw in Bordeaux. They must now beat Cluj in their final group match to ensure they reach the knockout stages.

They took the lead on the hour. Frank Lampard split the defence and Nicolas Anelka raced through, dummied his shot twice and then slid in a low shot.

But the goal was cancelled out on 83 minutes when Alou Diarra was left unmarked for a corner. He headed the ball, directing it in off the near post.

Chelsea lost Lampard with four minutes to go after the England midfielder was given his second yellow card for a clumsy challenge on Fernanado.
