Roxanne Pallett has been secretly battling a weight problem caused by an undiagnosed medical condition.
The 'Emmerdale' star - who plays Jo Sugden in the soap - has been struggling with her weight for two years because she suffers from an overactive thyroid.
The medical condition has dramatically affected her weight - at one point causing her to lose 21lbs and drop to a size six.
She said: "My heart was thumping constantly and I couldn't sleep. Despite eating five meals a day, I lost weight. My breasts, bum and hips virtually disappeared."
My heart was thumping constantly and I couldn't sleep. Despite eating five meals a day, I lost weight. My breasts, bum and hips virtually disappeared.
However, once doctors diagnosed the condition and put Roxanne on medication the weight piled back on.
She added: "People started saying how fat I was, which was really hurtful. My 'Emmerdale' costumes no longer fitted and I felt self-conscious because I had to do loads of sexy scenes wearing lingerie."
It took two years for Roxanne's metabolism to stabilise, but she is now back to a size ten and is comfortable with her shape.
