Tony Hirst's monkey scene

Tony Hirst says he "couldn't give a monkey's" about his sex scenes with co-star Zoe Lister.

The actor - who plays Mike Barnes in 'Hollyoaks' - admits starring in raunchy scenes alongside Zoe, who plays his younger on-screen girlfriend Zoe Carpenter, was nerve-wracking at first but he soon got used to it.

He said: "Zoe and I shared our first nude scene not long ago. How would I describe it? Cold! There's no heating on set. At first you are a bit reticent but after about the first minute, to be honest, it's like, 'Who gives a monkey's?' We were home alone and I was ironing, ready for a night out, dressed in just a towel and she comes out of the shower with her towel, she whips the towel off me, I do the same to her and then my daughter walks in on us!

"It wasn't too revealing on screen - the camera always finds those flowers in a vase, of the iron conveniently placed, like in an 'Austin Powers' sketch. It was a fun scene, with a nice dynamic, and by the end of the shoot I had actually forgotten I was naked!"

Tony also said he thinks the controversy about his on-screen relationship with a younger woman has worn off.

He added: "I think the controversy has subsided somewhat. It's not an illicit affair, it's known about now. It was shocking to some people at the beginning but it wasn't by any means illegal. There were some complications but they are both grown-ups!"
