Barry Sloane's rubble cough

1 month ago 10th Oct 13:00

Barry Sloane nearly choked to death while shooting a scene.

The 'Hollyoaks' star - who plays evil hairdresser Niall in the Channel 4 soap - has relived his terror when overzealous prop hands threw fake rubble down his throat for an upcoming storyline involving a church explosion.

He said: "We were walking through this church and people were on scaffolding just chucking bits of rock down at you.

"There was one scene where they're actually throwing down a statue that's going to hit Niall. I looked up and all this rubble went right down my throat - I nearly choked on it.

We were walking through this church and people were on scaffolding just chucking bits of rock down at you.

"God knows what it was, but four weeks later I'm still coughing it up. They were literally emptying buckets into my mouth."

The actor also admitted he felt very uncomfortable doing a saucy shoot for the 'Hollyoaks' Hunks calendar.

He added to Britain's OK! magazine: "When I first joined the show I said to the publicity department, 'There's no way on earth I'm doing a 'Hollyoaks' calendar.'
